Overview
Mintara is built with privacy as a core feature, not an afterthought. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Bank SMS Content: Mintara reads the text of bank SMS notifications on your device to extract transaction details. This content is processed locally by default.
- Parsed Expense Data: Structured data such as amount, merchant, category, and date derived from your SMS.
- Account Information: If you sign in, we collect your email address and a unique Firebase UID. We do not collect passwords.
- Crash Logs: With your consent, Firebase Crashlytics collects anonymised crash reports to improve app stability.
How We Use Your Information
- To parse and categorise your expenses automatically.
- To display analytics, trends, and spending summaries.
- To diagnose and fix app crashes.
Data Storage & Security
Your primary database is a local SQLite file stored on your device. We do not store your expense data in the cloud.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase: Authentication and Crashlytics are provided by Google Firebase.
- Vertex AI: Optional cloud-based SMS parsing. Only used with explicit user consent.
- Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In: Used for authentication. We only receive your email and a unique identifier.
Your Rights
You can export your data at any time from the app settings. You can delete your account and all associated cloud data by contacting us at support@mintara.app. Deleting the app removes all local data.
